Experts Only is John Summit's label, sole founder in every source we checked. it launched as "Off The Grid Records" in march 2022, debut release "In Chicago" by Summit himself that may. in june 2023 it got hit with a cease and desist over a trademark conflict with an unrelated "Off The Grid Campout" events brand, and on 6 september 2023 the label relaunched under its current name, drawing on merch copy the team had already been using: "we had 'experts only' on [Off The Grid] merch that we released over a year ago. It wasn't like, 'Oh, we gotta rebrand, what name do we do?' and scrambling," Summit told Dancing Astronaut. the first single under the new name, Odd Mob & Omnom's "Losing Control," hit #1 on Beatport within days.

it runs as a real team, not a one-man shop: Toby Andrews (label manager, formerly president of Astralwerks), Jack David (head of marketing, formerly head of electronic music at UMG London), Will Weston (events), and Holt Harmon & Parker Cohen of the management company Metatone, who oversee the label alongside Summit's other business interests. distribution runs through Darkroom Records as of early 2025. Summit on the A&R filter, to Billboard: "my A&R room is literally playing to a crowd of 10,000 people." and on picking demos: "The goal, really, is just music I'll play in my sets. When I listen to demos, it's like 'would I play this, yes or no?'"

43 artists we track have released on it, listed below, the label's branded events series, the Experts Only Ski Weekender, runs annual editions in Vail and Whistler, named for Summit's own lifelong skiing habit and the "double black diamond" expert-run symbol on the label's logo. it has also run a branded festival in New York City with Kaskade and Cassian on the bill.
