Tiga

montreal, and the longest career on this page by some distance. Tiga James Sontag founded Turbo Recordings in his home city in 1998 and still runs it. turbo is credited with launching chromeo, azari & III and proxy, and ninja tune's own bio adds duke dumont, gesaffelstein and boys noize to the list.

the record that took him worldwide was Sunglasses at Night, a cover of the corey hart song made with the finnish producer jori hulkkonen as zyntherius. it came out on international deejay gigolo in september 2001 and reached number 25 on the uk singles chart in may 2002. the debut album Sexor followed in 2006 and won the 2007 juno for dance recording of the year. Ciao! came in 2009 and No Fantasy Required on ninja tune in 2016.

then a long gap, and then HOTLIFE on 17 april 2026, out through turbo with secret city records and his first album in over a decade. boys noize, MRD, maara and Fcukers, who are further up this page, all appear on it. beatport made him artist of the month that same month.

he has also remixed the xx, lcd soundsystem, depeche mode, coldcut and moby. he describes the state he is chasing as absolute brain freedom, which is also, in full, his soundcloud bio.

A combination of saying no, making decisions, and playing. Not like a DJ, like a kid.
