Revival New York

Revival New York is Michael Discenza's label, founded in 2020 and based in New York City. the label says the year itself, three times over: its bio page reads "FOUNDED IN 2020", its YouTube description says "founded in 2020", and Discogs puts it as "NYC Dance label was founded in 2020." the site footer signs off "© ALL RIGHTS RESERVED TO 2020 REVIVAL MGMT LLC.", and no parent company or distributor turned up, so we name none. the first record came early the next year, Jansons "Heartbreaker", RNY001 on Discogs, dated 26 February 2021 on Deezer. Discenza's speaker bio for Amsterdam Dance Event reads: "He is a Partner at Prime Culture, Global Director of Select Culture Agency, and Founder of Revival New York, overseeing artist management, international booking, and label operations." the same bio says he was "born and raised in Staten Island, New York". the name is printed "Revival New York" on Beatport, Resident Advisor, Discogs, the label's YouTube channel and in Deezer's label field on the 81 albums that carry it, while its SoundCloud and Instagram go by the short form "Revival".

the London angle is the label's own. its bio page, in capitals as it prints them, reads "BUILT FROM THE NECESSITY TO BRIDGE THE SOUNDS OF NEW YORK AND THE GROOVES OF LONDON." and carries the tagline "REBUILD. REINVENT. REVIVE." the YouTube channel tells it as a New York story: "Revival is a New York City based record label that was founded in 2020 and is preparing to serve as a powerful platform for artists to showcase their talent. Focusing on the roots of dance music, Revival will feature the sounds of new and emerging artists from around the world." Resident Advisor files it in the United States and, like YouTube, describes a New York label only. so the website presents a bridge between two cities while the YouTube channel and RA describe a New York label, a small contradiction, and we print it as one. the label's own words point at the roots of dance music rather than a genre, so we don't tag one.

Discenza's ADE bio also names the artists he manages, "Ben Sterling, Beltran, ChaseWest, KinAhau, LuSiD, and Ahmed Spins", and three of those, Beltran, ChaseWest and KinAhau, have released on this label, so the label and his management overlap. the series is Revival Series, a numbered guest-mix series on the label's own SoundCloud. episode 032, the Mr. Diamond mix, is dated 4 November 2024 and is the latest we can see, so the series may be resting. there is also a one-off compilation, "Revival Forever VA" (RNY043, 26 April 2024). no source calls any single release notable, so we name none beyond the first record and that compilation. a few things share the name without being the label: a Staten Island bedding and linens business also trades as Revival New York and is unrelated, and there are many other Revival labels in other genres.

a few notes on the names. Beltran, ChaseWest and KinAhau are the three from Discenza's management list, on "Warning" (2022), "DA BEAT" (2024) and "Subject Study" (2023) respectively. Jansons opened the catalogue with "Heartbreaker" (RNY001, 2021). three are here through the label's various-artists records: RSquared on "Nuclear Summer VA" (RNY023, 2022), sharing "The Chant" with Iglesias, who also has the "Agony EP" (RNY014, 2021), and Jeff Sorkowitz and YOUniverse (IT) on the "Attitude Era VA" compilation (2023), which also goes by "The Attitude Era VA" (RNY033) and has Beltran on it too. two carry a remix credit next to their own releases: ChaseWest as a remixer on the "Rain Dance EP" (2022), the record Marco Strous is on, and Ragie Ban on "Let’s Go Deep (Ragie Ban & ENNE Remix)" (2025) after "Dangerous" (2024).
