HOTTRAX

HOTTRAX is Jamie Jones's underground-leaning label, announced 5 december 2012 by DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and XLR8R the same day it launched. no source ties Lee Foss, Jones's Hot Creations co-founder, to HOTTRAX specifically, so the credit here is to Jones alone. the label's own channel copy describes it plainly: "Jamie Jones presents Hottrax, an underground-oriented label dedicated to showcasing the darker side of the dance floor." its own spelling is inconsistent across its own channels, HOTTRAX, Hottrax and HotTrax all appear on properties it controls, we're using HOTTRAX here since Resident Advisor, Instagram and the catalog's own header agree on it. the catalog itself runs HTX001 and HTX002, then HXT003 onward through HXT164, with a couple of genuine typos along the way (HCT161, HTX065) that we're printing as they appear on the real releases rather than "fixing."

HOTTRAX is a genuine sister label to Hot Creations, not just an affiliated brand, confirmed independently here through Discogs' own structured parent-label field, Resident Advisor's blurb and a shared demo portal, tstack.app/hotcreations, that both labels route through. it isn't a standalone website either, the real page lives at hotcreations.com/hot-trax/ rather than any hottrax.com of its own. 16 artists we track have released on it, listed below, more than three times the wall's earlier hand-tallied figure of 5. notable releases include the debut, Jamie Jones's "Change" (HTX001, 2012, printed "Changes" in some listings, a small discrepancy we haven't resolved), Patrick Topping's "Walk On" (HTX002), and Collier's "Freak" EP (HXT132), which carries the best quote on record from an artist rather than the label itself: "Releasing an EP with a label as big as Hottrax at 22 years old is a huge accomplishment for me and fills me with lots of excitement for the future," Collier told Data Transmission in 2024.

the name collides on Deezer alone across more than 200 raw hits, most of them an unrelated 1980s to 2000s Atlanta blues label of the same name whose old domain, hottrax.com, is now dead. that domain is not this label and shouldn't be linked as if it were. also unrelated: Hottrax Studios, an Italian act billed as Hot Trax, and a Columbus, Ohio hip-hop artist's own imprint, TeeZee Hottrax, which shares the exact label-field string on Deezer. the label runs its own YouTube mix series, Hottrax LIVE, with 13 episodes live in the playlist as this was written, and a various-artists compilation franchise, Hottrax presents Tripleution, with at least six catalogued parts. Jamie Jones's separate solo radio show, Hot Robot Radio, is not HOTTRAX-branded and isn't counted as part of this label's series.
