Sharam Jey founded Bunny Tiger in Cologne, Germany in 2012 as a personal outlet for his own music and productions by close friends, and he still runs it alone, with no other principal named anywhere in the label's own materials or in press as of 2026. we checked a rumored connection to Mahmut Orhan directly, his own biography, his Discogs credits and general search all turn up nothing, he has no tie to this label.

the label opened with BT001, "Money Right," in 2012 (Sharam Jey has said BT002, "Love Hurts," was actually meant to come first but scheduling pushed it back a slot), and its early run leaned nu disco and funky house hard enough to reach the top 10 of Beatport's Nu Disco chart within a year. Volac's "Disco Tetris EP" (BT038, 2014) was an early breakout for an artist who went on to a bigger international profile, and the catalogue has since broadened toward tech house, melodic house and indie dance. the flagship "Bunny Tiger Selection" compilation series launched alongside the label and Sharam Jey still mixes it himself, and the label runs its own "Bunny Tiger Sessions" collab EPs and a "Bunny Tiger Podcast" guest-mix series on the side. a 2022 "Bunny Tiger 10 Years Anniversary" VA compilation, pulling in around 45 artists, does the math back to the 2012 founding cleanly.
