set of the week 🌧️

Brunello b2b Rafael, in the rain

Brunello b2b Rafael, friday night at iii points on the isotropic stage. that's the whole review.

ok not the whole review. Brunello has been on the bucket list forever and this was the first time we ever caught him. and Rafael? he was our #2 most listened artist last year, right behind Max Styler. so walking into this one, expectations were already through the roof.

then the sky opened up. not a drizzle, a full florida downpour, right in the middle of their set. we were soaked, like jumped in the pool with our clothes on soaked. people ran for cover. we just got closer to the stage. leaving was never even a question lol. and honestly that's when it turned into something else. one of those sets you'll be telling people about for years.

and isotropic friday just kept going after that. Ahmed Spins b2b OMRI., then Vintage Culture b2b Max Styler closing it out at 4am. stacked from start to finish.

if you get the chance to catch either of them, go. bring a poncho, or don't. we didn't.

the ones that snuck up on us 👀

Miguelle & Tons, right before Brunello and Rafael on isotropic friday. didn't know what to expect, walked away fans. nice surprise.

Omar+, back on isotropic saturday. we only caught 40 to 45 minutes before heading over to Seth Troxler, and he was cooking. for real cooking. we almost didn't leave.

and Seth Troxler, four hours on the 444 stage to close out saturday. another one off the bucket list. been dying to catch him live for years and he did not disappoint. bonus: some friends of ours got invited up to the booth and came back with some nice film. keep an eye on our page 🎧

the honest one

Max Dean b2b Luke Dean, isotropic saturday. still fans, that's not changing. but this one didn't land for us. to our crew it felt like the same track the whole set, and the drops never really came. great DJs, great producers, just not our night with them. it happens.

iii points, the short version 👀

we have notes

keeping this one short because we'd rather talk about the music. but we'd be lying if we said this year went well.

it felt oversold. saturday was packed wall to wall, and vip was so full it barely felt like vip. plenty of people didn't seem to be wearing bracelets at all. maybe they had a code on their phone, no idea, but the math wasn't mathing.

our own fault part: we left our bracelets at home. getting new ones was rough. hundreds of people, maybe 5 to 10 staff, barely any signs telling you where to go, people cutting the line and nobody stopping it. we weren't the only ones either. friday will call had people reporting waits of around four hours, and the organizers put out a statement saying night one "fell short" and that they'd added staff and scan lanes for saturday.

and the kids. so many kids. way too many clearly underage people out at hours that just didn't feel right. we're not the only ones who noticed, New Times literally asked for an adults only day.

one more thing and then we'll drop it. tickets aren't cheap. people fly in, book hotels, take days off, all to see the artists they love. we'd love to see more artists push venues and promoters for a better experience for the people who show up for them. their fans deserve it.

ok. rant over. back to the grooves.

baddest behaviour 🎂

the label launch we missed

we missed the baddest behaviour kickoff last week and we're still a little sick about it.

quick catch up if you missed it too: Mau P just launched Baddest Behaviour Records, named after the party. first release is AGTSWSB, a four track compilation with Edd, Shokë, CVMPANILE and Sergio Saffe, out now everywhere. tech house to indie tech, all of it built for the club.

and sunday is Mau P's birthday. so happy early birthday to the man behind some of the bumpiest records of the last few years 🚧 go throw on Drugs From Amsterdam this weekend for him. we won't tell anyone it's your fifth time.

five worth the full runtime, all from the roster this week. Mau P's new XXX Radio is in there too, birthday weekend and all.
