they met at an after hours club in montreal in 2002 and have been a duo ever since. for the first decade they made big room records under the name sultan and ned shepard, and somewhere around 2015 the billing shortened to sultan + shepard.

the real turn came in early 2020, when they signed to lane 8's This Never Happened and went back toward melodic house and progressive. everything since has come out there: Something, Everything in 2021, Forever, Now in 2023, Endless, Dawn in 2024, and Circle In Time: The Trilogy that november, which they tied together as three chapters of one story and then toured as a live show through early 2025.

Sometimes balancing emotion and dancefloor appeal on a record is tricky, but in this case we were really happy with the result.

2026 has been steady. Disappear with lane 8 and sadhappy in january, the Communicate + ep in march, Twilight with shallou in may, and Centuries with prinze george on 30 july. they also run Dialekt Radio, weekly on siriusxm chill, past its three hundred and thirtieth episode.

they play outside lands on 8 august, then cross pollination at waterfront park in san diego the next day, billed back to back with lane 8 on a bill that also has YOTTO on it. amsterdam during ade follows on 24 october.
