steve lawler grew up in birmingham, england, and came in through late 1980s acid house. between 1990 and 1994 he ran parties in a disused tunnel under the m42 motorway, and a residency at cream in liverpool followed once darren hughes heard him play.

the residency stayed the shape of his career rather than the one off show, and he laid the whole run out himself in 2015.

My residencies have included, Cream in Liverpool, then Home in London, then The End in London, Space Ibiza, Twilo New York, The Arches in Glasgow, Release in San Fransisco, now my only residency is Sankeys in Ibiza, but I still have one and always will.
