born Kim Min-ji in incheon, south korea, in london from the age of fifteen studying fashion, and in berlin since. resident advisor places the sound somewhere between detroit, london and berlin. her own version, given to mixmag in 2018, was simpler: she wanted the peggy sound to be housey and acid.

the record that made her name underground was It Makes You Forget (Itgehane), from the Once ep on ninja tune in march 2018, the first time she sang in korean on a release. it took independent track of the year at the aim awards that september. dazed had already noted, in may of that year, that she was the first korean woman to play panorama bar.

then a second, much larger breakthrough. (It Goes Like) Nanana came out on xl in june 2023 and reached number five on the uk singles chart, twenty three weeks on it, her first uk top ten. the debut album I Hear You followed on 7 june 2024 with lenny kravitz and villano antillano on it.

I think it is more important for me to keep doing what I believe, instead of just focusing on making a hit.

she started Gudu Records in berlin in 2019 with the Moment ep and has since put out maurice fulton, dmx krew, special request, mumdance and mogwaa on it, plus an annual Gudu & Friends compilation. her fashion line KIRIN launched the same year under new guards group. she also curates her own party, gou talk, which sold out drumsheds in london in october 2025, and she finished 2025 at number twelve in the dj mag top 100.

her london date on 2 august is her own night, peggy gou on the thames, at the old royal naval college in greenwich, with Prospa also on it. that whole series is worth knowing about, because Dom Dolla played it on the first, Adriatique bring X on the eighth and Michael Bibi closes it on the sixteenth.
