L'Impératrice

🧃 vibes paris, france french nu-disco 📈 heavy rotation · 12 🧃 🌊 ▶️ sets on file

L'Impératrice started in paris in 2012 as a solo idea. keyboardist and songwriter Charles de Boisseguin built it out into an instrumental band, adding hagni gwon on keys, david gaugué on bass, achille trocellier on guitar and tom daveau on drums.

the shift came in 2015 when singer Flore Benguigui joined and gave the group a voice. she debuted on the Odyssée ep, which pushed the band well past france. their sound sits where french pop, nu-disco, funk and a little psychedelia meet, warm and built for moving.

three albums followed on the independent label microqlima, Matahari in 2018, Tako Tsubo in 2021 and Pulsar in june 2024. that last record closed a chapter. flore left the band in september 2024 over what she called deep personal and artistic differences, and within weeks the group introduced a new singer, Louve.

Well women fascinate me and I always choose to talk about women through my music.
