Life on Planets is the solo project of singer, songwriter and guitarist Phill Celeste out of baltimore. he started making tracks in the warehouses of the city's underground scene, then carried that sound out to caribbean islands, late-night clubs and beachside festivals.
the blend is the whole point. r&b, bossa nova, reggae and house folded together, live guitar and soft vocals over a thumping low end. his records have come out through Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, Double Standard, Sub Urban Records and Crew Love. les inrockuptibles once called him a worthy heir to arthur russell.
the catalog runs deep on his own bandcamp, from A Public Affair in 2014 and Curious Palace in 2015 to The Maze in 2017 and Only You in 2020. more of a caravan than a career, always moving toward the next room.
I'm always trying to keep it flowing, keep going, keep pushing ahead. I guess that's gotten us here.
