his first gig was on 26 december 1983, in a bar in eype, dorset, that his parents owned. he has been at it ever since, and his own resident advisor bio still reads, in full: lee has been a dj for more than three decades. he kind of likes it.

the route from there took in hong kong from 1991, where he helped build a club scene from very little, and the full moon parties on ko pha ngan. back in london he started Tyrant with craig richards at fabric in 2000, which is what made his name internationally.

then, in 2011, a rooftop party in williamsburg turned into All Day I Dream, which is now a label, a touring party and a way of describing a whole sound. beatport's own writers credit it with popularising what people call organic house. he has described what he wanted more plainly than that, saying he believed he could make a place where melodic house and techno could live and breathe. a sister label, All Day I Dream In Waves, followed in 2021.

his own records mostly come out on it. the Melt album with lost desert in july 2019, the November Snowflakes ep in november 2025, and Fading Out on 10 july 2026. the exception is the one everybody knows, Lost In A Moment with matthew dekay, which came out on innervisions in june 2012.
