Golden Features

🚧 bumpy sydney, new south wales indie electronic 🎧 in rotation · 5 🌊 🏆 aria nominee

Thomas George Stell, born in 1991 and raised in sydney, grew up around the city's graffiti scene before turning to production. after growing tired of making big-room edm, he started writing music closer to his own taste under a new name, Golden Features, and put out a self-titled four-track ep in early 2014, staying anonymous behind a gold mask. the ep spread fast on soundcloud and picked up an early co-sign from porter robinson.

the run of singles that followed, Tell Me with nicole millar, No One with thelma plum and Wolfie with julia stone, all landed on triple j's hottest 100 lists between 2014 and 2016. he remixed the presets' "no fun" that same year, then supported alison wonderland's us tour in 2016 and ran his own headline us tour the following year, by then out from behind the mask and performing under his own face.

his debut album, Sect, arrived in july 2018 on warner music australasia and reached no. 11 on the aria albums chart. in 2020 he teamed up with odesza as Bronson for a ten-track record featuring lau.ra, gallant and totally enormous extinct dinosaurs, which hit no. 5 on the us billboard dance/electronic albums chart.

It was a direct response to my time in Berlin and a song that encapsulated everything I fell in love with on my journeys.

his second album, Sisyphus, followed in july 2023, released internationally through odesza's foreign family collective and led by the single "flesh." it earned him an aria award nomination for best dance/electronic release that year. since then he's kept a steady run of remixes moving, reworking sisyphus-era tracks like "endit," "vigil" and "flesh" into 2024.
