Chris Stussy

🚧 bumpy amsterdam house

Niels Steenbergen grew up in leiden, half an hour from amsterdam, and is based in amsterdam now. dj mag describes what he makes as groove led house music, warm and effortlessly groovy, often deep and dubby, with skippy breakdowns and glimmering pads on top.

he launched Up The Stuss in november 2020 and named it after a hashtag his own crowd had started using on an australian tour. east end dubs, janeret, locklead and malin genie all release on it. All Night Long came out there in may 2023 and changed things. he wrote it in a leeds hotel room in november 2022 in two or three hours, first played it at printworks in london the following march, and it was past five million streams by that october.

the Midtown Playground ep came out on enzo siragusa's FUSE the same year, and in november 2024 he reworked moby's Go, something he originally built as an intro edit for a boiler room in edinburgh.

the debut album, Lost, Found & Forgotten..., landed on 3 april 2026. nineteen tracks in three parts, unreleased material, collaborations and old b sides, with elena moroder, leanne louise, KUČKA, tom did it, jessica care moore and tropics on it. he held a bbc radio 1 residency for the whole of that month and played a set from the first floor of the eiffel tower. he also runs an event series called USS, which opened at the roundhouse in london in february 2025, and he finished 2025 at number 81 in the dj mag top 100.

You just make music because you like it, and if other people resonate with it then that's the most beautiful thing I think there is.

summer is dense. creamfields on 28 august, reading festival on 30 august, arc in chicago on 4 september and echostage in washington on 5 september. two amnesia nights in ibiza either side of that, and Across Boundaries, his project with locklead, plays fuse on 16 august. he has gone back to back with PAWSA at dc 10, which puts two names from this page on one booth.
