adam beyer grew up in stockholm, sweden, and found techno in 1993 after hearing records by jeff mills. he started Djing soon after and worked the counter at stockholm's planet rhythm record store, the same scene that produced a run of swedish techno producers through the mid 1990s.

in 1996 he put his own money into starting Drumcode, the label he still runs. it began as a way to get his own tracks out faster and grew into one of techno's longest running imprints, with a weekly radio show that now reaches stations around the world. in 2002 he also launched Truesoul, a second label built around the same functional, dj-focused sound.

the drumcode catalogue ties him to a few names already on this page. he shared billing with Marco Carola on 1998's drumcode 16, one of the label's first releases. Tiga had him remix "Let's Go Dancing" in 2014 for turbo recordings, and in 2018 he made the joint record Space Date with Layton Giordani and Green Velvet.

I feel what I've been trying to create with Drumcode was to keep it very positive.
